The Pleatco Perfect Pool Guy and Gal contest was founded in 2008 when the new owners of Pleatco thought it would be a fun contest. In fact, the contest was originally expected to be a bit “goofy.” WELL, that belief was FAR from reality. What started out as a “light-hearted” contest quickly turned into a serious nation-wide event which is now a North American event. While some entries were incredibly funny, most of the entries were submitted by loyal customers who truly appreciate the commitment to service at the highest level by their “Guy or Gal.”
The growth of this contest has amazed everyone. Over the four years that Pleatco has sponsored this contest, we’ve learned that being a professional pool or spa service technician is more than a job…it’s a passion. Many homeowner’s treat their service Guy or Gal like family; it’s a special relationship.” said Pleatco Chief Operating Officer, John Antretter.

In 2008, the contest started as the Perfect Pool Guy contest; after twenty percent of all the entries were woman, Pleatco realized that there needed to be a Perfect Pool Gal Award as well. This year the panel of judges was very impressed with the excellence and experience of so many contestants; they decided to award eight other individuals with significant awards. Each of these individuals was flown to Las Vegas for the show. These awards included The Big Heart Award, Industry Achievement Award, Future Leadership Award, Most Creative Entry Award, Customer Service Award, and Biggest Pool Personality Award.

Over the past 4 years, over 700 people have entered the contest and nearly 35,000 people have voted for the winners. Each year, this contest has grown and continued to illuminate the strengths and passions of the pool service industry. Pleatco is proud to honor the men and woman who work hard each day to not only service pools and spas, but also, help educate their customers. Nominees Location?
The contest is open to US Residents as well as all  international entries. If an international entry wins then it is understood that the airfare from the origin country to the US will be paid by the nominee.

Voting?
Once all nominations are in by  late September - Voting commences  September 1 and finishes September 30th. All the nominations are placed up on the Pleatco Website and the public may vote on the candidates entry. One vote per vaild email is allowed. Those with the greatest number of votes then fall into the top 20 Finalists category. VOTING constitues 50% of the final mark.

Finalist?
There are 20 FINALISTS chosen from the NOMINATIONS. These are selected on number of VOTES and quality of ENTRY by a panel of judges from the sponsors. Out of these FINALIST the eventual category winners and POOL GUY and POOLGAL will be picked.

Awards Dinner & Ceremony?
The winners will and attend an Award presentation GALA DINNER and guest of honor in Pleatco Booth at International Pool, Spa and Patio Expo plus be the Honored Guest at the prestigious Awards Ceremony Dinner Function.

Marketing exposure
The winners will star in Pleatco's nationwide follow-on ad campaign. Commences November 2011.

Contest commences January 1st 2012. Nominations close  September 1 2011. Voting opens  September 1 and closes September 30 2011. Finalist are contacted and interviewed by Pleatco Between October 1st - 15th. The Winners are announced October  on the Pleatco Website and awarded the prizes at the International pool, Spa & Patio Expo in Las Vegas.
