Pleatco+PLUS uses Microban® antimicrobial product protection to protect the filter cartridge from being a nest for bacteria, mold and algae that can cause odors and product deterioration. Pleatco+PLUS Filter Cartridges are the ONLY product to harness this technology in both the MEDIA and the END CAP.

Microban® antimicrobial protection is built into products during manufacturing to provide continuous antimicrobial product protection. Microban protection can be found in hundreds of consumer, industrial and medical products around the world.

Microbes or micro-organisms are living cells that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. Microbes such as bacteria, mould and mildew can double every 20 minutes. In some cases, algae can damage product surfaces such as your swimming pool filter.

Microban penetrates the cell wall of these micro-organisms making them unable to function, grow and re-produce. Microban protection works continuously... for the lifetime of your Pleatco+PLUS Premium Filter Cartridge.

Reemay Filtration Fabric with Microban is constructed from 100% polyester tri-lobal fibers that provide the same strength, durability and reliability of standard Reemay.

Reemay Filtration Fabric with Microban provides the same efficiency, loading and pressure drop performance of standard Reemay.

The fibers in the antimicrobial Reemay Filtration Fabric are bicomponent construction (combination of two different polymers) with the outer layer of every fiber containing Microban. The Microban is incorporated directly into the outer sheath of every fiber during manufacturing which provides for greater lifespan.

Reemay Filtration Fabric with Microban is easier to clean than standard Reemay due to two reasons. One is surface properties of the material. Our static friction tests (a proxy for “slickness”) shows values much closer to the old Liberty than standard Reemay. This should provide much easier release of contaminants during cleaning. Secondly, since Microban will retard the growth of a bio-film, this should also make the cartridge easier to clean.

The Microban sheath helps prevent, inhibit, retard the growth of bacteria on the filtration media. This helps prevent odor and staining and makes the cartridge easier to clean.
