ANA Synchers

At Pleatco we believe that it’s important to not only invest in our business and technology but also have a responsibility to give back to the community. That is why we proudly support community teams like the nationally acclaimed ANA Synchers and continue our prime directive to promote healthy living through clean water.

Did you know that with 85 athletes, the ANA Synchers is the largest synchronized swim team in the country?

The goal of a synchronized swimmer is to become one (synchronized) with the music and her teammates. The more swimmers, the more difficult this becomes. 40-60% of every routine is performed upside down underwater. Swimmers never touch the bottom of the pool throughout the routine. Remember this especially when you watch what we call “lifts” or what sometimes look like swimmers standing or kneeling on top of the water. The swimmers supporting the “liftee” never touch the bottom of the pool or would be penalized in competition.

What’s on their nose?

Those are nose-clips - a must for any swimmer who spends more than half her time upside down under water. And no, they don’t hurt.

And the question we get more than any other...what’s in their hair???

That is unflavored Knox gelatin. This helps keep the bun neat and in place while the swimmer performs...and yes, even the Olympians Knox their hair!

Is synchronized swimming hard?

To give you an idea of how physically demanding the sport is, try holding your breath for as long as the athletes are under water. Now imagine holding your breath and running! This will give you an idea of the physical endurance required for this sport. Today we are happy to include all levels of the ANA Synchers team from our Novice athletes through our most senior swimmers. If you are interested in joining our team or need help identifying a team in your local area, please visit us on-line at www.anasynchers.org or usasynchro.org for more information.
